Okay so here’s a little summary of the story (I just started it yesterday. It’s only 5-6 pages long at the moment.)
Amber(it’s from her point of view) and her three best friends, Rosie, Evan, and Noah, live in The Florida Keys. This is they’re last summer together before they all go off to college thousands of miles apart. One day in July, they decide to go boating on the ocean in Noah’s little motor boat. They knew a storm was predicted to come, but they told themselves they’d be back early before the storm was supposed to hit. The storm comes early, though, and they’re far out in the ocean in the middle of a terrible summer storm. Their boat flips and they spend the night holding onto the side of the boat, drifting until the waves bring them to a tropical island. They think it’s deserted, but when they go into the jungle part of the island, they find strange marking on the trees (like hieroglyphics almost) and piles of dead animals. They discover that they’re not alone on this strange island, and their biggest concern isn’t to get home anymore. It’s to survive the wrath of the island people who don’t like the idea of newcomers on their island.
Does it sound interesting? If not, any suggestions? Thanks!<3

it does sound interesting. One thing I would suggest is that you don’t let on to the people being there right away. Let it take a while until they find out it has inhabitants. To me it was very interesting finding the heiroglyphs and the dead animals and not knowing why they are there. So maybe give some time before they discover what the cause is. Mystery is the key for this story I would think. Also some huge twists would add a lot to the mystery and suspense of the story. So if you ever saw the show lost, slowly add stuff to the story how they do. It starts off just as survival then they slowly discover different things that are strange about the island.
You could also add in some huge conspiracy, like some organization watching over the people on the island and conducting experiments or something? I dont know, anything to add to the mystery and suspense of the story. It has been done before, but that shouldn’t stop you from being able to create a completely original story off the same premise. Good luck!
